SNPP will provide its young scholars with interactive seminars and hands-on activities (pending Covid-19 safety protocols) to learn about STEM careers, research methods, career development, effective communication skills, and college applications, among others. Scholars will interact with scientists and professors from Puerto Rico, and other prestigious academic institutions in the United States and worldwide (e.g. Massachusetts Institute of Technology [MIT], Harvard University) , where they will be exposed to different research laboratories, world-renowned scientists, and a variety of opportunities for young people in STEM. By the end of the summer, the scholars will have a greater understanding of the rich diversity of career paths in STEM and tools that will increase their confidence in achieving a successful career, as well as a network of mentors and advisors who will continue to provide support after the program concludes. Overall, this program will provide Puerto Rican young students with opportunities and experiences that will allow them to be better prepared to pursue a career in STEM.
